Building belonging through our House System

One year since its launch, our House System has already become a beloved part of life at Collège Champittet!

Our House System was created to strengthen connections across our school. Every student from Preschool to Grade 9 at Collège Champittet belongs to one of our four Houses: Wolves, Bears, Eagles and Lynxes. By bringing together children of different ages, the House System gives students an opportunity to form friendships outside of their own class and year group.

Belonging to a House helps children build a sense of shared identity and connection within our school community. As they participate together in challenges, activities and events throughout the year, they reinforce ties across year groups and discover the value of mutual support.

Growing confidence through leadership and mentorship

Our House System gives older students a chance to take on leadership roles and support their younger peers. Each House relies on two Captains and a Mentor : students in Grades 8 and 9 who help to organise activities, motivate their teammates and act as positive role models. 

In addition, our Buddy System nurtures relationships across grades by pairing older and younger students, so new students can settle in and feel supported throughout the year. Through these structures, younger children benefit from the encouragement and guidance of their older peers, while older students develop leadership, responsibility and communication skills through real experience.

A team where every contribution counts

Our House System fosters teamwork through friendly competition, allowing every child to shine. Creativity, kindness, effort and resilience are all valued just as much as points, and each team player can see how their contribution helps add to the accomplishments of the whole House. By engaging in a variety of House activities beyond the classroom, students can also discover their own strengths and talents.

Ultimately, our House System serves to help every child find their place within the Champittet community. It reminds our students that we’re all part of something bigger than ourselves and that our contributions matter.
