Prevention, safety and student wellbeing

We are proud of our caring community at Collège Champittet, which is why we take prevention education seriously. As educators, our role is not only to support students academically, but to help them build the skills, knowledge and resources to take care of themselves and others, both at school and in life.
Through our prevention workshops, we place student wellbeing, safety and respect at the heart of our community. These workshops prepare our students with the tools to navigate everyday challenges, recognise risks and make responsible decisions, while also supporting their social and emotional development.
Why prevention matters
Young people today face a wide range of challenges both online and offline. Prevention education is not about focusing on risks or worst-case scenarios, but about equipping students with the coping mechanisms to better handle such situations should the need arise.
Our school psychologist Aline Allenbach explains, “Investing in prevention is essential because we openly address topics that can sometimes be sensitive without reinforcing certain taboos. Prevention is a form of education: we face up to reality and the difficulties it presents, whilst at the same time sharing the tools and solutions to deal with them.”
Addressing the challenges students face today
Road safety, digital citizenship, sexting, cyberharassment, respect, relationships, mental health: these are just some of the topics addressed in our prevention workshops for students.
These workshops aim to support learners at every stage of their journey, helping children develop safe habits from an early age and building awareness through age-appropriate learning experiences.
From responsible social media use and AI awareness to bullying and violence prevention, these important topics are all part of the reality of everyday life. By addressing these topics throughout the year, we aim to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of our students while creating a positive school climate where all students feel respected and valued.
Learning from trusted experts
To strengthen our prevention programme, we invite various external partners to deliver activities at our school, including the local theatre company Le Caméléon, the Pully Police, and digital awareness association Declick.
From Primary to Secondary, all our prevention workshops engage students actively rather than simply delivering information. Through interactive discussions, facilitator-led exchanges, theatre performances and role-playing activities, we ensure that our students come away with meaningful lessons after having the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on new information.
Preparing students with skills for life
Prevention workshops are one of the many ways we support students’ personal growth, helping them develop confidence, resilience and respect for others. Alongside regular safety drills and staff training, they form part of our wider commitment to putting student wellbeing first.
At Collège Champittet, we believe that education is about nurturing the whole child. By providing students with the knowledge, skills and support they need to navigate an increasingly complex world, we prepare them not only for success at school, but also for life beyond it.
