Creative Workshop with Sidra – Co-Designing the Children’s Hospital Experience of the Future
Creative Workshop with Sidra – Co-Designing the Children’s Hospital Experience of the Future We supported Sidra in running three creative workshops on 14 June 2017.

We are pleased to inform you that our school contributed to an innovation project organised by Philips, on behalf of Sidra Research & Medical Center, Doha.

Sidra Research and Medical Center in Doha has the mission to provide patients with world class healthcare services in an innovative and ultramodern facility specially designed to promote healing. In particular, it will address the growing need for more comprehensive patient-focused medical services for women and children in Qatar and throughout the region.

Currently, Sidra and Philips are investigating how to further improve the experience of children visiting their hospital, so it truly becomes an environment in which children and families feel welcome and safe, and experience continuous support and caring.

To further shape this children’s experience strategy, they invited some children from Compass International School Doha to contribute in the design process.

On Wednesday, 14 June, 90-minute workshop were organised at Compass International School Doha.  A team of expert researchers with local experience in Qatar worked with the children to co-design around some key topics.  The workshop covered topics such as their favourite characters, desired healthcare experience, needs and wishes for a future ‘Sidra character’ design. To facilitate the discussion, appropriate stimuli and creative tools will be used that have proven successful in working with children in co-creation.  During the workshop, there were no right or wrong answers, we just wanted to find out more about the children’s experience and opinion, and harness their imagination.

The insights generated during the workshop will serve as inspiration for the further development of the child experience strategy of the Sidra hospital. We hope that they will enjoy contributing to create a positive healthcare experience in Qatar from which future patients may benefit.
