Letter from Dr Neil Hopkin

Dear Parents,

I would like to thank you all for your warm welcome over the last few days as I have met some of you on the school steps at the start of the day. We have had a significant number of new students join us this term and it is wonderful to see them settling so quickly and happily in to their new school, as well, of course, as seeing returning children catching up with one another after the long break. As you will know, orientation applies to everyone in our school community, not just the students, and so from a personal perspective it has been good to be able to see Dover Court International School in action.

There are many aspects of our school life, community and facilities that I am eager to understand better so that we can continue to meet the children’s needs and offer them outstanding learning opportunities. I hope to be able to meet many more of you in the near future so that I may better understand your desires for your children’s education here and so that I may share some of my vision with you in more detail.

To that end we will run a series of events at different times of the day and in different formats so that I can meet formally and informally with you over the next few weeks. Our proposed schedule is as follows, but this will just be the start of our work together and so we will create an ongoing programme of events and meetings to keep you well informed and engaged with our developments here.

• Meeting for all Secondary student parents and Yr 5/6 parents

I would also like to thank Dr Roach for her warm welcome. She and I will lead the school together, with Dr Roach leading the DSE as Director, and myself leading the mainstream school as Principal. In this manner we have clearly defined jurisdiction and responsibilities, whilst sharing whole school leadership and management.

So, may I wish you a very happy and prosperous 2015 and look forward to getting to know you better in the near future.
