Improving classroom participation whilst having fun at the same time in this ECA

This term Minecraft ECA students have enjoyed learning about the new Minecraft: Educational Edition software. They have been improving on their participation in the classroom whilst having fun at the same time. Having students engage in collaborative work teams and learning environments that foster cooperation in the classroom will help prepare them for their futures.

Children learn naturally through a combination of observation, trial-and-error and play-based practice. An open learning environment like Minecraft encourages independence and self-direction, allowing students the freedom to experiment and challenge themselves. Much like real life, there are no step-by-step instructions – students must try, fail, and try again to achieve the result they want.

Phoebe from Year 7 says ‘It’s my favourite activity; I love Minecraft, especially the new features and working in teams’.

If you want to get involved in the Minecraft ECA, please speak to Mr Kinsella or Mr Whisby and sign up early for next term.
