On Wednesday 9th November, parents were invited to attend a maths workshop at DCIS.

The workshop was split into 3 parts:

  1. Kiara Gray discussed maths in EYFS. Information was shared about the prime areas of learning in EYFS. Also, strategies were shared on how to engage the young children in maths, as well as number expectations for children aged 30 – 50 months and 40 – 60 months.
  2. Ian Rinaldi then shared information on how Maths is taught at DCIS in year groups 1 – 6.  Mr Rinaldi discussed a range of teaching strategies used and highlighted how the National Curriculum outlines its aims, purpose and programmes of study. The parents got involved with a mini maths quiz based on this as well!
  3. Kara Lebihan rounded up the presentation by discussing ways to help children at home with their maths. A range of activities, ideas and examples were shared. These examples were also reflected with the age of the child.

Thank you to all parents for your support and attendance.
