iGCSE Chemistry Experiment: Crystallisation Day in the life of a DCIS student: Successful iGCSE experiment with students testing various separation techniques

What is the purpose of crystallisation? Our iGCSE students found out using various techniques in the DCIS science laboratories...

As part of their first Chemistry unit of iGCSE, Year 10 students have been testing various separation techniques. Here they can be seen doing crystallisation. This is used to separate a solid that has dissolved in a liquid and made a solution. Using new balances purchased this year which are accurate to 0.0001g, students expertly used their Bunsen burners to evaporate the liquid and measured the masses of the solid crystals left behind. A successful experiment all around!
