She grew up on an island in the Pacific Ocean, she loves reading and every person you talk to mentions her kind and caring nature. Meet Miss Boysen!

Miss Boysen is the warmest and kindest person you could ever meet. She genuinely cares for the people around her, both adults and children alike.  We are lucky to have Miss Boysen at Dover Court and we absolutely love having her here. - Ms Lebihan, Head of Primary

Q: Miss Boysen, you are no newbie to our school, how long have you been a Dover Court teacher?

A: It is hard to believe it, but this is my 12th year at Dover Court International School.

Q.  What is the best thing about being part of DCIS?

A: I love the children and the support which I always get from the parents.

Q. What do you feel are your strengths as a teacher?

A:  I work hard to see and care for the individual student, I want them to know that they are all special to me. I enjoy to read and as result the children in my class always love reading as well. I love to swim and at Dover Court I am very lucky that I am able to teach my own class to swim which is one of my favourite lessons all week.

Q. You have participated in quite a few school events over the years, which ones have you enjoyed the most?

A: I love UN Day the best, as the whole school get to celebrate where we are from and learn about the different countries and cultures in the world around us. I am half German and love sharing that with the students.

Q: We know that you love reading, what was your favourite book growing up?

A: Oh I have so many favourite books depending on how I am feeling. I would have to say it was Enid Blyton - The Magic Faraway Tree, The Wishing Chair and as I got older; Secret Seven. I also enjoyed the Milly Molly Mandy stories by Joyce Lankester Brisley.

Q: What book would you tell our students not to miss?

A: My Year 1 class love stories by Robert Munsch, the children in Year 4 and 5 used to love Anthony Horowitz' The Diamond Brothers Series.

Q: Like many of our students you didn’t spend your childhood in just one place, where did you grow up?

A: I grew up on a small group of  islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean called Kiribati. The specific island I lived on was Tawara, it was half a mile wide and a mile and a half long.  I just loved the island life and I also went to a small international school!

Q. Life in Singapore is not just about teaching. Do you have a favourite part of Singapore and what do you enjoy doing?

A: I love to go hiking around all the nature parks. I have visited all the National Parks in Singapore and my favourite is MacRitchie and Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.

I’ve have been in a team with Miss Boysen for 2 years now and it’s always a pleasure! Miss Boysen is so passionate about teaching and always shows so much care for her students and colleagues. - Miss Lindars, Year 1 teacher
