Dover Court Students Achieve Outstanding LAMDA Results

We are delighted to celebrate an outstanding set of LAMDA examination results following our June examination session, with a 100% pass rate and 85% of candidates awarded Distinction.

A total of 48 examination entries were completed by Dover Court students across Acting (Solo and Duologue), Speaking in Public, and Speaking in Verse and Prose. Students also achieved some exceptional individual results, including an outstanding 96 out of 100, the highest mark awarded.

LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) qualifications help students develop communication, performance and public speaking skills through graded examinations in a range of disciplines.

More Than an Examination Result

While these results are certainly something to celebrate, the value of LAMDA extends far beyond the final mark.

Preparing for a LAMDA examination helps students develop confidence, independence, discipline and resilience. Students learn how to communicate effectively, respond to feedback, prepare work to a high standard and, importantly, perform or speak confidently under pressure.

Unlike many classroom assessments, students complete their LAMDA examination individually with a live examiner, creating an authentic examination experience. Walking into that room, introducing themselves, presenting their prepared work and responding to questions is a significant achievement in itself. It provides valuable experience in managing nerves, thinking independently and communicating with confidence.

For students who progress through the programme, LAMDA can also become an important part of their academic journey. At the higher levels, Grade 6 (Bronze), Grade 7 (Silver) and Grade 8 (Gold), LAMDA qualifications are Level 3 qualifications and can carry UCAS Tariff points, providing additional recognition as students prepare applications for university and further education.

A Broad and Progressive Programme

We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to offer such a broad and progressive LAMDA programme at Dover Court. Students have the opportunity to begin at an appropriate level and continue developing their skills through increasingly challenging grades and disciplines, with some eventually working towards the prestigious Grade 8 Gold Award.

Most importantly, we are beyond proud of every student who entered an examination. Behind each result are hours of preparation, rehearsal, feedback and determination, as well as the courage required to walk into that examination room and give their very best.
