We were delighted to once again host an exclusive rugby clinic in collaboration with HSBC, organised as part of the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens. This special event brought world‑class athletes onto our campus, giving our young players a unique opportunity to learn, train and be inspired by some of the sport’s biggest names.
This year’s clinic featured three outstanding rugby ambassadors:
These remarkable athletes led a high‑energy session for players from our DCIS Wolves, joined by participants from Tanglin Rugby Club and Canadian International School. Students rotated through fast‑paced drills, picked up new skills, and were encouraged to challenge themselves while having fun with the sport.

The clinic was more than just a training session; it was a chance for students to hear first‑hand stories of resilience, hard work, and passion for rugby. Each ambassador generously shared insights from their sporting journeys during an engaging Q&A session.

Danny Care commented on the atmosphere at the school and highlighted the importance of giving young players opportunities to grow:
“Fantastic set up here. Rugby has been a massive part of my life. We’re going to try and help kids and inspire the next generation.”
Rachael Burford spoke about the value of moments like these in sparking lifelong enthusiasm for the sport:
“I love getting involved in days like today because this is where it all starts. Giving kids the opportunity to play and run around with some legends who’ve done it before – I’m delighted to be here.”
For Alicia Lucas, the day was deeply meaningful:
“I never had the opportunity to start rugby at a young age, and it’s completely shaped my life. I hope I can give that opportunity to someone else much earlier than when I started.”
Their words resonated strongly with the students, many of whom left the field buzzing with motivation and new sporting ambitions.

Throughout the clinic, students strengthened not only their technical abilities but also essential character skills. Leadership, teamwork, confidence, and resilience were built into every activity, showing how sport can powerfully support whole-person development.
The experience also highlighted the strength of our wider sporting community, with young players from various schools and clubs training alongside one another in an atmosphere of positivity and shared passion.

This is not the first time DCIS has welcomed professional players to run a rugby clinic, and we are proud to keep offering such great opportunities to our students. Bringing athletes of this level directly to our campus shows our commitment to providing inspiring, real‑world learning experiences that go far beyond the classroom.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to HSBC, the rugby ambassadors, our DCIS coaches, and all participating players for making this event such a memorable success. We look forward to many more exciting collaborations and to watching our young athletes continue to grow in skill, character, and confidence.
