Thirty of our Year 7 and 8 students from Dover Court International School Singapore (DCIS) have just returned from the FOBISIA U13 Games (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) in Thailand, where they joined six other international schools for three days of athletics, swimming, football and basketball.
This annual event is one of the most anticipated highlights of the Dover Court sporting calendar, offering students the chance to compete at a high level, develop resilience, and strengthen the friendships that make our community so special.

Outstanding Results on the Track and in the Pool
Our students trained hard in the weeks leading up to the event, and their effort showed. They supported one another, pushed themselves in every event and stayed focused throughout the competition.
They achieved:
The level of competition was incredibly high, and each placement was well earned.

More Than a Competition – A Growth Experience
Beyond medals and placings, the FOBISIA Games offer something even more valuable: the chance for students to grow as athletes and as people, to take on new challenges, and to experience sport within a larger community.
As two of our Year 8 students, Ella and Gabby, shared:
“This was our favourite school trip, we got to do the sports we feel passionate about and meet new people from other schools. We became closer with other Dover Court students outside of our usual friendship group. We had so much fun!”
Our U13 FOBISIA Games coaches – Susie Clark, Simon Herbert, James Freeman and Simon Elliott – shared how proud they are of the group’s progress and teamwork throughout the season:
“We very much enjoyed the whole process of working with this dedicated group of athletes, and we are very proud of their growth and achievement. Our students developed resilience, showed great sportsmanship, demonstrated the Dover Court values, and formed strong bonds with their teammates. A very successful trip and a true learning opportunity.”

Sports at Dover Court: Opportunities for Every Student
At DCIS, sport plays an important part in school life. Students have many opportunities to train, compete, discover their strengths and represent the school on a regional and international stage. Events like this give our students the chance to develop confidence, teamwork, build friendships that extend beyond the classroom and resilience while doing the sports they enjoy.
The U13 FOBISIA Games is a great example of the opportunities available to our students as part of our vibrant and diverse sporting programme.

Looking Ahead: U11 FOBISIA Team Up Next!
With the U13 team now back home and celebrating their success, excitement is already building as our U11 FOBISIA Games team prepares to head off very soon. We look forward to cheering them on as they embark on their own sporting journey.
