At Dover Court International School, learning doesn’t stop in the classroom. Our recent Year 6 production of Shrek the Musical JR showed just how much students can achieve beyond it.
After nearly a year of preparation, from auditions in September to the final curtain call in May, our students delivered an unforgettable performance that showcased not only their talent but also their resilience, creativity, and collaboration.

A Journey of Growth, Confidence and Creativity
Over the rehearsal period, Year 6 students took on every part of the production. They learned lines, practised songs, worked on choreography and supported each other along the way.
On stage, the result was truly Shrektacular. With confident performances, creative set design, infectious energy, and a strong sense of teamwork, students brought the beloved story of Shrek to life – captivating audiences and creating lasting memories.
Along the way, students built important skills such as communication, adaptability and collaboration – skills that will support them well beyond school.

Resilience and Teamwork in Action
Behind the scenes, the dedication was just as impressive. With five dress rehearsals and two evening performances, students demonstrated perseverance and focus throughout the process.
They supported each other through challenges, grew in confidence with each rehearsal, and experienced the rewards of working towards a shared goal. Experiences like this help children develop not just as learners, but as people.

Creating Lasting Memories
More than just a performance, Shrek the Musical JR was a journey – one that our students will remember for years to come. It was an opportunity to challenge themselves, discover new strengths, and experience the joy of achieving something together.
This production would not have been possible without the dedication of our talented teachers, the support of student and parent volunteers, and the encouragement of our wider Dover Court community. The energy from families in the audience made each performance even more special and showed the strong sense of community we value.
