Our entire school community is proud to share our students at The British College of Brazil achieved exceptional results in this year’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
For the 2020/21 academic school year BCB’s achieved a pass rate of 100%. The average score was 34 higher than the IB global average of 33.02 points globally, widening the gap between the school and other IB schools around the world. This result also showcases the difference that Nord Anglia Education schools bring to students’ academic results.
“We are delighted with our first ever Diploma results which came through a decision to take the examination route which really allowed our students to showcase their abilities in the most rigorous of settings. I want to congratulate all the students and teachers alike whilst not forgetting the hugely important role parents have in the journey their children are on to University and beyond!” Mr. Ben Holman, Head of Secondary of BCB, said.
2021 marks the year of BCB’s first graduating students. This is a landmark moment for any school and it is also a significant moment for BCB. So far, our first graduating class with 8 students has received an incredible 34 university offers. Among others, five of them for universities in the UK Top 20 (The University of Edinburgh, Durham University, University of Bristol, The University of Warwick and University of Leeds), 4 offers for universities in the USA Top 50 (Boston University, University of California – Davis, University of Florida and Rutgers) as well as for the top-ranked university in Canada (University of Toronto). Schools, teachers, and students around the world continue to face enormous challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and, in May 2021, the International Baccalaureate offered two route options for assessment, the exams route (in which students could take the exams in person at school) and the non-exams (in which students who could not take the exams in person would be evaluated and assigned grades based on the results achieved in their internal courses and grades provided by the teacher). BCB stood out once again, we went the exam route when other schools in Brazil didn't, which states our safety on school campus and reaffirms the high level of our students.
All of us here at BCB would also like to congratulate our graduating seniors. These students have put in incredible hard work over the years and we can’t wait to see what they do in the future.
