ello, my name is Roxanne Hankinson and I have been a primary school teacher for the last seven years in England. I am really looking forward to coming to teach at the British College of Brazil this summer. I feel incredibly privileged to be a teacher. I love the relationships which you build with children in school, helping them to achieve their full potential and supporting them both academically and socially. I am a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who is always looking to improve my teaching practice to support children further as I believe we are all lifelong learners. Growth mindset is at the heart of my teaching, I believe that encouraging children to see mistakes as a way of learning is really important for them to progress and improve.
I have a degree in Law and worked for the civil service following my graduation. During my degree, I spent a semester abroad in Switzerland , meeting people from all over the world whilst travelling across the continent was an incredible experience which I think was one of the catalysts for my love of travelling. In 2012, I worked as a TEFL teacher in Thailand and this experience inspired me to train as a teacher. After passing my PGCE from the University of Manchester in 2014, I worked at a school in Manchester, working with children who had English as an additional language. I have worked at a school in Nantwich for the last 4 years, predominantly in year 6.
I practise yoga each morning as this helps me to feel energized for the day. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking at the weekend in the Lake District so I am looking forward to being able explore and hike another part of the world . I cannot wait to come to Sao Paulo, and to start immersing myself into a new culture.
