Diversity Day on Léman campus was held last Thursday, June 10th. This year’s theme was “Proud to Be Me”. We had many students dress up to show what they are proud of. Some students dressed up in cultural and traditional dress. Others dressed up in ways that represented passions of theirs. All the students participated in a whole school Art Tile Project and it was great to be a part of. The students demonstrated creativity and positive collaboration sharing their ideas and having meaningful conversations with one another.
Diversity Day was all about including and involving every student to share what it means to be unique and different. Being an International School, our students come from different backgrounds, speak different languages, have had different life experiences and beliefs, all the things that make us who we are.
For me, Diversity Day brought a feeling of home, simply by being able to dress in one of Canada’s top teams in sports, the Toronto Blue Jays. I can always say I am proud to be a Canadian. It is a big part of how I self-identify. A day like Diversity Day today opens our minds and hearts, and gives us a feeling of love for our diverse and inclusive school community.
