Viviane Soto

Viviane Soto - Country Day School

Student Support Services Coordinator

I started my exciting journey in the field of education in Costa Rica, my hometown when I decided to start a major in Special Education. I had already been in the University of Costa Rica for three years when I was awarded a full merit scholarship from the US government to finish my undergraduate studies. There I was, in Ellensburg WA at Central Washington University for three years, living the greatest and most challenging experience of my life. I majored in Special Education K-12 and minored in Elementary Ed. K-8.

In 1993, I came back to Costa Rica and haven´t left the field since then. More than 25 years of experience has been as a student support teacher in American and international schools in my country, with some years in between as an Elementary and Secondary principal after doing my Master´s in Educational Administration. Right now, I work at Country Day School as the Student Support Service teacher in High School, and give support to the other divisions in the area of learning differences, special needs and inclusion of the diverse learners.

My two sons, Samuel and Elias, and my husband Roy, give so much meaning to my life. With them I can go to the stars and beyond. They are the number one witnesses of how much I love what I do, and how much I value the opportunities life brings to our lives. They are also part of the Country Day family since both boys come to school with me, Elias to Middle School and Samuel to High School.

I love traveling, gardening, watching movies with my boys, and spending coffee-time with love ones (family and friends) whenever it’s possible. My favorite place of all is a beach in Guanacaste, Cabuyal, where I can rest to the sound of the waves breaking into the enormous rocks. Once in a while, a turtle approaches the beach to lay down its eggs inside a secure hole in the warm and gorgeous white sand. I will need another lifetime to travel to all the peaceful and exotic places in my beautiful country.
