Patrick Harmon

Patrick Harmon - Country Day School

Physics, AP Physics and Economics Teacher

I have a physics degree from the University of Rochester and a masters in environmental studies from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. My love of tropical nature – particularly trees – brought me to Costa Rica with the Peace Corps back in 1984. Eager to stay, I landed a teaching job at Country Day School in 1986 and I have been happily engaged here ever since.

I love teaching subjects that are about modeling the function of real-world systems and environments (like physics, astronomy, and economics), and I find it fascinating to get to know and interact with so many different people.

I have found that even after 33 years of teaching some of the same subjects, it never gets old. The bright faces, fresh enthusiasm, and insights brought by students to my classes each year keep it all feeling new, relevant, and cutting-edge.
