My commitment to learning and creating have taken me to unexpected places throughout my professional and academic life. I lived and studied in Costa Rica, United States, Hungary, Austria and Sweden. I have enrolled in several university programs in the areas of design, architectural engineering, sculpture and digital media. I obtained a five-year degree in architecture and a BFA in Sculpture, where I also served as a teacher assistant to several courses at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Costa Rica. After working in the field of art and design, I earned an MFA in Digital Media at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
This has resulted in a collage of memories and paths that sum up to what I am today. As a university student, I was able to compare different teaching and learning approaches, from the traditional and structured format to more open-ended and experimental methods. All these experiences have opened my perspective on how teaching and learning can be perceived.
After investing many years of studying, making and researching, I realized my affinity for the academic environment or any space where knowledge and innovation are manifested. I feel comfortable in places that like to change, inform, question and move forward to new grounds. I have always welcomed a good discussion with my peers about innovation, exploration and new discoveries in any area of knowledge. Likewise, I like to challenge my students and for them to challenge me back with questions that have yet to be answered like in science, art, or philosophy.
I joined the CDS community in 2010 as a High School Art and technology. I am currently developing an after-school program called Art & Tech Lab where students learn how to program, tinker, create and experiment with applied technology in order to produce art projects. I was recently accepted in the Nord Anglia University- King’s College London Masters Program to obtain a degree in International Education. Since 2011 I have also taught sculpture at the University of Costa Rica. And in my free time, I like to work on my art projects and travel to the mountainside of Costa Rica.
