Social Studies Teacher
I’m extremely excited to be starting at Country Day School as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher. Previously, I taught Model United Nations (MUN) coach for both middle and high school. I’m motivated to be able to coach and build our MUN team!.
I have lived in Costa Rica for four years and have settled down with my wife and son. My desire at CDS is to build and strengthen our social studies programs and initiatives to be leading in Costa Rica.
My journey for teaching started after I left the U.S Army as an infantryman in 2006, with an extreme passion for a deeper understanding of history rooted in justice. I earned a BA in Secondary Teaching of History with both a Middle School and English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement. I taught middle school social studies for five years in Chicago serving in underprivileged communities before going on to receiving a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction Design. I later moved to New Jersey and taught civics for three years at Union Avenue Middle School in which I was heavily involved in our school’s Parent Teacher Association and established our school as a leading school in New Jersey's “law day” in which students participated with attorney’s and circuit judges in a day-long mock trial.
I look forward to working with the CDS community and providing high-quality social studies instruction!!!
