Hello, my name is Romel Brumley Kerr. I am the new choir teacher at Country Day School. Currently, I have been assigned to teach middle and high school students. I am thrilled to impart music to so many students who are in need to find a voice within music nowadays. Also, I am a member of the department of “Acción Social” of the “Universidad de Costa Rica” at the extended community program named “Etapa Básica de Música” where I am a choir director, voice teacher, and culture manager.
My approach in teaching is to take any person from no knowledge to the very first stages through a journey of knowledge and experiences through music. Afterward, when they begin to manage their tools, they will be able to find their respective niche or style of their choice. My philosophy is that everyone has potential and they deserve to develop their abilities and show them to the world. So, they should be able to grasp their full potential and turn into well-rounded human beings.
I love teaching choir music due to my background at my old Baptist and Episcopal church choir. When I was a boy soprano at an early age, I learned to master my singing through singing Gregorian chants to great hymns. Students need to be exposed to different kinds of music to enrich their respective literacy in vocal music by developing a sense of properness. So, when in late-life they could decide the style they wish to listen to as they learn to appreciate music as an art form of importance.
I am a young professional that enjoys reading, blogging, outdoor activities, social media, and family gathering. I love to work very hard and to get things done.
