Teachers are Learners Too! Being in the teaching profession requires keeping up to date with educational developments and research happening. My own current research in the classroom is with mathematics and the UK’s National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). This organisation promotes a ‘deep and lasting procedural and conceptual mathematical understanding’ so that ‘children’s chances of succeeding in education and life will be maximised’.

Being in the teaching profession requires keeping up to date with educational developments and research happening so that the best practice can be applied in the classroom.

My own current research in the classroom is with mathematics and the UK’s National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). Learning with professional organisations like this is part of the ongoing learning and development in the teaching profession so that we can bring learning opportunities, support and challenge to the children we teach and share good practice with colleagues.

As a result of my own learning and reflections, the children of Year 3 have been exploring 3-digit numbers and the various ways these can be partitioned. There has been an impact on children’s understanding of number and these observations have been exciting and rewarding for children and teacher.
