Movie Night Fundraiser

After weeks of planning, the Year 4 and 5 students held a mystery movie fundraiser, raising over 11 million IDR for the UNICEF W.A.S.H programme.

The event was exceptionally well attended and enjoyed by everyone – children, parents and staff.  In addition to the movie, the event involved a bake sale where the students, supported by their parents, produced a range of delicious goodies. The tasty treats sold out fast and helped boost funds.

Involving students in a project of this scale really enables them to develop different skills now identified as essential by global companies; communication, collaboration, critical and creative thinking. From advertising to market research, ticket design to pricing and event roles, the students have been full immersed in all aspects of the fundraiser, giving careful consideration to the decisions they had to make.  Having ownership of a project engages, challenges and extends students beyond what they themselves see as possible.  Combine this with the act of service – doing something for others – makes for extremely powerful learning with a great sense of achievement and purpose.
