Head of Primary Message

Dear BSY community,

Another academic year comes to an end!

As I reflect on what we have achieved over the teaching and learning days of 2021/2022, I am so very proud of everyone. We can not underestimate the impact the last two and a half years has had on our community. We all have our story to tell, of that I am sure.

As teachers it was really important for us to make sure that our VSE adapted to students' changing needs, but also that we introduced new initiatives which we fully immersed ourselves in. These proved highly successful and reiterated the meaning of community for us all. Our Family Fridays each month were relevant to current learning and themes across the school and this brought you as parents into your child’s learning journey, in a way Seesaw could not facilitate. Your family engagement was heartfelt and we could see how much you had committed to working with your child. Seeing siblings work together on projects during these Fridays was also a wonderful experience for them as well as us and you.

Wellbeing was at the heart of everything we strived to achieve this year. We had a number of wellbeing events, the December month of kindness, Smile Day, Children’s Mental Health Week to name but a few. Enabling us all to talk, discuss, and express our true emotions has been something that has been encouraged by all staff. Our PSHE lessons have been elevated as a result of our continued commitment to our communities wellbeing. Rest assured this will be a key focus when we start back to school on August 22nd.

Enjoy the following pages which show what absolute superstars your children are.

I look forward to seeing you on the 22nd of August - in fact, I can not wait!

To our families moving on to pastures new, I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Mrs O’Callaghan
