When is the deadline for enrollment?

We accept applicants throughout the school year pending availability in the grade level that the student is applying to and meeting the criteria for admissions.

Do siblings get any discount? 

The fourth child of the same family is exempt from paying the One Time Payment Fee of $12,000.

How long will I have to wait before I know if my child has been offered a place at the MET?

After completing the admissions process, you will receive a notification via e-mail from our Director of Admissions two weeks after the family interview and student assessment. You may click here to view a guide to our school's admissions.

School Life

What is the school's calendar?

The MET follows an international school schedule with the academic year starting mid-August and ending in mid-June.

What are your school's hours?

On Mondays through Thursdays our classes begin at 7:40 am and end at 2:40 pm. On Fridays our school has an early dismissal at 1:12 pm.

At the MET we offer a comprehensive Extra Curricular Activities program which runs from Monday through Thursdays from 2:40 pm through 3:40 pm and an Athletics program which runs from 2:40 pm through 4:40 pm from Mondays through Fridays.

Does the school offer transportation services? 

We contract a transportation company in Panama City who works closely with the MET. Students ride in air conditioned buses equipped with seatbelts and a bus monitor. Students enjoy door-to-door service to and from school.  

We also offer a bus for our Extra Curricular Activities Program at 3:40 pm and transportation for our Athletics Program at 4:40 pm.

Do you offer a lunch program?

Yes! As part of our educational program, the Metropolitan School of Panama offers a comprehensive nutrition program to all of our students, aimed towards developing healthy habits that will last a lifetime!

Our students are provided with a well rounded meal each day which includes a snack, hot lunches, a salad bar, fresh fruit and fruit juices. Find our more about our school's cafeteria services and nutrition program. 


Is the MET Accredited?

The Metropolitan School of Panama is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate's (IB) continuum of programs:  the IB Primary Years Program (PYP), the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) and the IB Diploma Program (DP). The IB is recognized by schools and universities worldwide for being an innovative and rigorous curriculum. 

The MET is also locally accredited by the Panamanian Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

What are your class sizes?

Our class sizes are:

  • Early Childhood 3 - Maximum of 16 students per class with a teacher and a teacher's assistant.
  • Early Childhood 4 - Maximum of 18 students per class with a teacher and a teacher's assistant.
  • Kinder - Maximum of 20 students per class with a teacher and a teacher's assistant.
  • 1st Grade - Maximum of 22 students per class with a teacher and a teacher's assistant.
  • 2nd-12th Grade - Maximum of 24 students per class.
