Little Jags 2s Program

Little Jags is a parent and child program developed by the Metropolitan School of Panama’s seasoned Early Childhood Educators.

We are pleased to announce a new program for two-year-olds beginning in August of 2019. Little Jags is a parent and child program developed by the Metropolitan School of Panama’s seasoned Early Childhood Educators. The program is designed to be a child’s first school experience, uniquely preparing children for entry to our three-year-old program. Students enrolled in our Little Jags program receive priority admission to our three-year-old program.

Little Jags focuses on social-emotional growth, physical development, and familiarizing children with the routine of a classroom environment. Little Jags uses play, music, movement, and stories to build a solid foundation for students. Little Jags is guided by an instructor and engages both the parent and child during the class.

Little Jags will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The Little Jags classroom will open at 7:45 AM for parents who would like additional time to settle in.

Sample Schedule

  • Structured Activity Time: classes will begin with a guided activity. This time allows students to develop focus and build the skills for group participation. Little Jags is conducted in English and Spanish. We will expose students to English and Spanish by responding to directions, expressing themselves, and remembering songs and stories.

  • Snack Time: participating in our nutritious snack is important because it gives the students a chance to expand their palate while learning to share and cooperate.

  • Choice Time & Exploration Stations: students will have time to make choices based on their interests. For example, our art station will allow students to work on their fine motor skill development and our sorting station will build the foundation for numeracy skills.
  • Story Time: our teacher will lead parents and children through a daily story.
  • Closing Meeting: students and parents will end each session with a closing meeting.

Sessions, Registration, and Fees

Little Jags will be a twice-weekly program and will offer registration for two sessions. Session One will be August 26, 2019 to December 19, 2019. Session Two will be January 28, 2020 to June 11, 2020. Registration for Session One is now open using our online registration form.

Registration for Little Jags is on a first come, first serve basis. The class will be capped, and due to the anticipated interest, we will maintain a waiting list once our registration capacity has been reached.

The tuition for each semester is $1,500. We require a $300 deposit to be paid at the time of registration. This deposit is non-refundable and will be credited toward your child’s tuition. Little Jags students who apply and are admitted to the Metropolitan School of Panama’s three-year-old program will receive a credit of up to $1,000 towards the one-time-payment ($500 for half-year registration, and $1,000 for full-year registration).

Age-Eligibility & Requirements

Little Jags requires that children be two-years-old by August 2019. Students will be required to attend each session with a parent or caregiver. This is not a drop-off program.
