Winter Wonderland update

If you requested that your tickets be sent home – they are on the way!   You may pre-order tickets by sending the form and money to school in an envelope labeled, “Winter Wonderland ticket order.”

Helpers are needed at the event; please contact PTA@bisspuxi.com if you can lend a hand for an hour on Saturday 7 December, from 1-4 pm, and set-up and tear-down shifts too.  This is a community celebration, and the support of parents is an important component for success.

Christmas basket raffle

The primary room parents’ creations go on display in the Primary Foyer, beginning next Monday.  Look over the goodies and buy your raffle tickets in the courtyard after school.  For only 25 rmb (for one ticket: 5 for 100 rmb), you could win the basket of your dreams.  Winners to be drawn at the Winter Wonderland, but you need not be present to win!  All proceeds will be donated to Mifan Mama.

We are the PTA

This week, the Parent Teacher Association invites you to meet one of the new Co-chairpersons, Sabrina Galasso.

How long has your family been at BISS Puxi?  11 months - we arrived in January 2012.

Tell us about your family.  We have two daughters: Carolina in 5B and Alessia in 2B.

What is your home country?  We come from Italy; my hometown is Rome.

Where did you live before you came to Shanghai?  We spent 3 fantastic years in Melbourne.  Before that, we lived 7 years in Brazil, where my kids were born.

Favourite place for vacation:  Too hard to choose!  Recently, Malaysia is one I loved very much, simply fantastic.

Tell us something surprising about you.  I love theme parks, all kinds of attractions and rides. My first date with my husband was at Disneyland Paris and Asterix Park (the best roller coaster ride I've ever had)!

Why do you enjoy PTA involvement?  Being involved in the school my children attend, it makes me feel I'm doing something which will benefit them.  I do believe we are privileged people.  By supporting charity through the PTA events, it's a way of giving back to the community.  Working with people from different backgrounds and from different cultures offers me new perspectives and the chance to enrich my skills. And it's fun too! Everyone can jump on board, even speaking only some English. I'm not native, I'm just comfortable with the language.  So, I'd encourage people to join us, for 1 hour or for 1 day or for 1 event, everything counts.
