Year 4 Learning to Play the Cello

This term Year 4 have been learning the Cello and how to read the bass clef. All children have had the opportunity to play the instrument with and without the bow and were able to perform as a whole class. We hope that some of the children will continue their Cello studies and be inspired to learn a string instrument in the future.

But what did the childern of Year 4 think of the Cello? they give us their verdict below...

“The cello has a really beautiful sound. I have enjoyed playing it with the bow and reading the notes.” Esteban 4P

“You have to look after the cello very carefully, for example not banging the head against the wall when you put the spike up or down. When you are packing the cello up you need to put it on its side because if you put it on its front or back it will damage it completely.” Florence 4I

“It was a wonderful experience to go through and I would recommend to all music lovers.” Grace 4I

“I found the cello experience great. Discovering all sorts of things, for example the different parts of the cello. I enjoyed watching and learning how to play it. So much that I wanted to learn more. During the experience not only did I learn how to play cello but I even learnt about the other paths of music like the melodic notes.” Gabriel 4S

“I discovered that learning how to play the cello will not take a day to but I thought experiencing the cello was very lucky!” Karina 4I

“I have enjoyed using the bow to make a better sound. It was one of the best instruments that I have ever played." Lucas 4P

“My experience with the cello has been fantastic and wonderful. Since Miss Rakowski has taught me I have really enjoyed doing it with her and the rest of my classmates. I had a few issues with holding the bow because the bow was a bit too heavy and my finger just could not hold it sadly. In the future I hope I will learn more about the amazing cello.” Sofia 4U
