As the term draws to a close and the holidays beckon, we can all be very proud of the wide variety of success we have enjoyed over the course of the second half of term.
Our school continues to grow, so does our reputation. The offers our leavers have received from outstanding universities and colleges and the numerous successes we have enjoyed in academic competitions have provided us with further evidence of the school’s high standards and on-going academic success. Our ability to continually improve our academic offering is reliant on a number of factors, in particular, the recruitment, retention and training of high-quality teachers and the substantial and continuing investment in our facilities. The spacious new secondary building and upgraded facilities in the primary building have provided our staff with superb new facilities that have enhanced their delivery of high quality teaching and learning. The new Key Stage 1 provision and the redecorated and redesigned Primary Library, Dining Hall, Swimming Pool and Sports Hall have been completed and have been well received and greatly appreciated.
We will continue to invest in the facilities across the campus, with a particular focus on our primary building and ICT for the whole school. We will complete the refurbishment and redecoration of the primary building. State of the art classrooms will be put in place in upper Key Stage 2 on the 3rd and 4th Floor and individual projects to upgrade and develop facilities like the Primary Theatre, Primary Gym and the other specialist primary classroom facilities will be undertaken. We will also make some further changes to the secondary building and we plan over the next 12 months to cover a section of the multi-use games area (MUGA) to increase the covered space available for sports and recreation.
We also intend to further increase the number of support staff, Learning Assistants, technicians and administrative staff to support teachers in their work with your children. We have also increased the management capacity of the school with the introduction of the whole school post of Assistant Head Global Languages, which will be focussed on the further development of our modern languages provision.
We firmly believe in education beyond the classroom and our extracurricular provision through our British International School Community Activity Programme (BISCAP) continues to flourish. We already have a number of successful sports and performing arts programmes and we will be looking to further broaden the scope of these community activities in advance of the new school year. We are also committed to increasing the amount of recreational sport available.
The fees for the coming academic year reflect these significant developments and investments as well as the increased cost of running the school, driven by general inflation and increased energy prices, in particular. You will find our fees for the 2014-15 academic year on our website, just follow the link at the bottom of this post.
We are proud of the achievements of our students and will continue to support their progression in partnership with parents. The developments and enhancements highlighted above are further evidence of our continued commitment to providing a high quality British education in an international context for the students in our care.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the various end of term events coming up over the next couple of weeks, in particular the secondary school production of The Crucible, the PTA International Food Event, and International Week events.
