Each child from Pre-Nursery up to Year 6 was involved in a wide range of fun and competitive activities which challenged their physical skills of running, throwing, jumping, kicking and balancing.
Each of these Sports Days was a great success because they were carefully planned to ensure maximum engagement and involvement by everyone, regardless of skill level. Each child was able to get actively involved and have a lot of fun as they moved around different activity stations; taking part in diverse activities from tough relay sprints to the sponge water challenge, or javelin throw to tug-of-war. It was great to see the determined faces of the serious Year 6 athletes as they focused on mastering their chosen activities but also a joy to see the tiny Nursery children frantically bouncing the balls on the parachute or trying to work out which direction to run in.
There was much laughter, loud cheering and lots of energy used as the children showed great perseverance and determination to do their best. While each team really wanted to win the events, the children were fantastic in demonstrating a real sense of team spirit and genuinely encouraged and motivated each other to try their best, regardless of team allegiances.
The children proudly wore their House colours and all their efforts earned them valuable points for their House team, with the team scoring the most points at the end of each of the Sports Days being named the Champions of 2014. The children celebrated the efforts and successes of both their own and the other teams, and delighted in the shiny medals given out.
These Sports Days were made even more special as so many parents came along to support and encourage the children. Some of the parents nearly lost their voices as they cheered enthusiastically from the side-lines and all were most impressed by how fantastic all the children were.
Thanks to all the children, parents and staff for making these memorable and fun days!
