Year 3 Explore Art At The Sheshan Sculpture Park

27 May 2014

Year 3 had a fantastic time at Sheshan Sculpture Park last Thursday. Year 3 Leader, Charlotte Taylor tells us what they got up to.

  • Year 3 students at BISS Puxi visit the Sheshan Sculpture Park 2014

Being just a hop, skip and a jump away from school, after a short bus ride we were excitedly queuing at the park gates.

The sun was definitely shining down on us as we spent the morning admiring and interacting with the many sculptures.  There were lots murmurs about which was the children’s favourite and which materials had been used to make each one.

After some sketching, we had just enough time for a paddle in the splash pool before finding a shady spot for a lovely picnic lunch.

Having refuelled, we wandered on and came across the play area with the giant inflatable domes.  They were great fun and helped to get rid of some of our excess energy!  The ringing of the bell signalled the end of our play time and we moved on to the beach.  Here we used all the inspiration we had gathered during the day to create sand sculptures! There were mermaids, turtles, volcanoes, snowmen and more - all sculpted from sand!

Finally it was time to go.  The visit was an excellent opportunity to practise our photography, sketching and art appreciation skills that we have been learning at school.  What a great day!
