Exciting Experiences – Right to the End of Term!

20 June 2014

It has been a delightful week in Primary with so many things taking place that showcase the talents and creativity of our students and staff.

  • Primary students performing in Treasure Island

The highlight has to be the incredible Key Stage 2 Production of Treasure Island that ran for two nights to a huge crowd. The show was amazing and a credit to all the talented cast and crew who have put so much time and energy into the preparations. The show really had it all, with outstanding character performances, humour, singing, wonderful choreography and creative stage sets. The students brought this classic tale to life on the stage and kept us enthralled until the final curtain.

Through the whole process, from rehearsal to final curtain, these young performers have demonstrated such commitment and perseverance, giving up breaks and weekends to practise. They have shown the ability to truly collaborate and work as a team and have demonstrated great confidence to perform (many in their 2nd language) in front of a large audience. It was wonderful to see how much they were enjoying themselves and also to witness the delight that they brought to so many people. We are very proud of you all!! Thanks to students, staff and parents for your support and making this performance possible.

Our Year 2 students also performed to an attentive audience at their Rainforest Assembly. This assembly was the culmination of all their efforts throughout the year to learn more about the environment and to take positive action! They have been very serious in their efforts as environmental campaigners and fund raisers, and been able to donate a large amount of money for animal conservation. Well done to all the Year 2 students!

Wedding Fever hit Reception this week with class favourites Ping Pong Panda marrying Bella Bear. This child initiated learning has really gripped the imaginations of the children and they have been preparing for the festivities throughout the week; writing invitations, making confetti, decorating the church, making the wedding cake, preparing menus and decorating the wedding car. The ceremony was beautiful and brought a tear to my eye and the wedding party was lots of fun with dancing and food prepared by the children and parents. A magical morning with lots of laughter, excitement and fantastic role playing.

Our final week of school will also be busy with students rounding off their learning and saying goodbye to their teachers and some of their classmates. Our parties are prepared and we thank all the parents for their support with these. Children will be bringing home some of their work and art projects so be prepared!

On Wednesday you will also be receiving your child’s End of Year Report which will capture their learning progress and attainment this year. If you are unable to collect this on Wednesday, you will be able to pick it up from school through the summer or the start of the new school year. It is also possible to have an electronic version on request by contacting ec-li@bisspuxi.com .

I know that is it a busy time for everyone as we all get ready for the summer break, but please be assured that your children are still busy learning and having lots of fun at school.
