(More) Getting Started Information for Primary Parents!

05 September 2014

It has been another active and purposeful week as children settle into the routines and challenges of school life.

It was wonderful to see so many parents at the Meet & Greet evening last night and we hope that this was both an informative and social evening for all. Teachers will have clarified expectations, given some practical reminders and started to build strong home-school partnerships that we will strengthen throughout the year.

Our extensive languages programme began this week affording children the opportunity to select from a range of language options. Throughout next week we will review our language groups to ensure we have children correctly placed and will inform you of which teachers they have been allocated. We will then start to set some language (MFL/Mandarin/Dutch) homework to allow children to consolidate and practice at home. If you have any questions about languages, please contact Chris Samsom c-samsom@bisspuxi.com">c-samsom@bisspuxi.com (MFL/Dutch/EAL) or Maggie Dai  m-dai@bisspuxi.com">m-dai@bisspuxi.com (Mandarin)

The children are looking smart and proud in their school uniforms and we want to ensure that we maintain the highest standards of appearance. Please can we ask for your support to ensure that your child wears their correct school uniform each day. This does include formal black school shoes, with sports shoes and coloured shoes/sandals not being allowed. On PE days children need to come to school in their formal school uniform and will change into PE clothes at school. Please also clearly label all uniform items so that lost items can quickly be reunited with their owners (saving parents and school a lot of time and upset!)

We are happy to let you know that our library is again fully operational and so we encourage parents to come and share Library Time with their children during our after school sessions on Monday and Tuesday 3:30 – 4:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our ECA programme begins on Tuesday and today you will receive confirmation information about the ECAs your child will be attending. We do offer a wide range of activities but of course many are very popular and oversubscribed. Please be assured that we have tried to meet most people’s requests and been very fair in our allocations. If you have questions about ECAs please contact Ruth Hanson r-hanson@bisspuxi.com">r-hanson@bisspuxi.com or Jonathan Fudge for BISCAP j-fudge@bisspuxi.com">j-fudge@bisspuxi.com.

Thanks for your continued support. Have a wonderful long weekend.

- Niki Meehan, Head of Primary
