This is all part of our ‘Education for Character’ programme, as we believe strongly that developing children and young adults as whole people is vital to their success, both academically and later life. He has worked with staff in the past, and we are delighted to have had the chance for him to work with us again.
His sessions with staff have been really engaging and provided us with a deeper understanding of the positive gains for the full school community (students, staff, parents) of adopting a coaching model here at BISS Puxi. The practical approach has also provided the participants with a coaching skills toolkit that will allow us to more skilfully and confidently approach coaching conversations, with colleagues and students. We look forward to seeing the positive impact that this great learning experience has for teachers and also for the students with whom they work.
He also gave two talks to parents, and we were delighted that about 150 of you came to hear him talk about the importance of mindfulness, flourishing and a range of other topics from the increasing body of modern research into positive psychology and well-being. We’re going to take some of these ideas and, working with Clive, look at how we integrate these into our programmes over the next few months. His slides from the presentation and the handout regarding character strengths can be downloaded below.
If you didn’t hear him this time, we hope he’ll be back later in the year. We will also be sharing a video we have made with Clive for those who couldn’t make it to the sessions.
