During national Money Week, the Dutch Government aims to educate adults and children about money matters and responsible spending and borrowing, so we wanted to do the same here at the Shanghai Dutch School.
Dutch children from Year 5 and 6 learned from Mr Hendriks about money matters like, saving, borrowing, spending money, interest, pocket money, advertisement in games and much more.
Mr Hendriks also led a great quiz including Qs that made the children think about the advertisements they see in the iPad games they play and why they are there, as well as lots of calculations. Mr Hendriks also asked them some personal questions to make the students aware of their own money matters. He asked about whether students got pocket money, what they do with it, do they save or spend, what they are saving for and lots more.
At the end of the session everyone got given a Chinese piggy bank to take away with them - thank you for this fun lesson Mr Hendriks!
