Year 1 Celebrate Their Fairy Tale Day

19 March 2015

Children from Year 1 got dressed up today to celebrate the end of their learning about Fairy Tales. Dean Clayden, Head of Year 1, tells us about their celebrations…

For four weeks the children have been learning all about fairy tale stories, characters and settings. We read a variety of stories including Cinderella, Cinderboy and Beauty and the Beast. The children learned how to use interesting vocabulary to write their own versions of classic fairy tale stories.

All of their hard work came to an exciting finale today when the children dressed up as their favourite fairy tale characters. There were fierce dragons, beautiful princesses, handsome princes and courageous knights to mention just a few! All these characters came together this morning to put on a beautiful parade for us all.

The afternoon saw the children take part in a variety of fun craft activities and games. The children also enjoyed a special Fairy Tale Day snack and they cooked tasty treats in the new cooking room. Thank you to all of our parents and teachers in the Year 1 team who helped to organise this wonderful experience for the students.
