Almost all of our graduating class sit the full IB Diploma which is more commonly only open to the more academic students at other schools. We are unashamedly ambitious for our students and our results over the last few years show clearly that we are right to be. Our students, supported by high quality teaching, rise to the challenge and have produced better results year on year than more selective schools and schools who only enter a small percentage of their graduating class.
All of the evidence shows that the IB Diploma is the most rigorous course available to students in their senior years and the best preparation for tertiary education. The most telling feedback that we receive is the fact that our graduates find the transition to studying at the many prestigious seats of learning that they attend to be very smooth and in fact in some cases they find it easy.
Tonight we have the Summer Music Concert to look forward to, with a wide variety of talented musicians from across the age range performing, all the way from Year 1 - 13. I have already had the pleasure of listening to the preparations in rehearsal over the course of the week. We have a lot to look forward to.
This week I have decided to share some of our plans for next year with you and in this case the campus development work that is scheduled for the summer holidays. We have four major projects planned, as well as significant expenditure on technology and a number of other smaller but equally important developments.
In the primary school we will be completely redecorating the Early Years Cubs’ Department and extending the outdoor classroom area adjacent to the Nursery (N) and Pre Nursery (PN) classrooms. Secondly we will be replacing the existing Key Stage 1 playground shade and adding some more on the south side of the playground, thus doubling the total shaded area. We will also be increasing the shaded area in the N and PN outdoor classroom areas by adding more sails to the exterior wall of the building.
In secondary we will be redecorating and refurbishing the IB Academy and revising the layout of the secondary pool to allow us to host competitive inter school swimming galas. In addition we will be creating new learning spaces in the science, computer science and art departments.
There are a multitude of other bits of development work taking place, all of which will further enhance the facilities available and our collective ability to support all of the students in our care to be the best that they can be.
