Welcome Back

27 August 2015

It has been a privilege to welcome both our new and returning students to the secondary campus this week.  The exciting start to the week gave the students the opportunity to share with friends and staff their holiday stories. This included descriptions of many remote and beautiful destinations across the globe, including visits to their home countries.  It reflects the nature of our truly international school community and the ability of our pupils to confidently welcome new pupils into their lives.

Our GCSE and IB students have started the term at a brisk pace.  There is a strong focus on achievement and for many a reflection upon their holiday homework activities.  We treat our students like academic athletes who we are able to challenge every day to improve upon their personal best.  The challenge for these students taking exams is to reach their golden targets through the support of their teachers and by adopting a positive mindset with a determination to succeed.

Our younger students at Key Stage 3 have enjoyed a number of exciting experiences in the classrooms through themed learning projects this week.  This has helped to ease them gently back into their school routines and allow them to build new friendships through collaborative learning.

I very much look forward to seeing you at the school soon and wish you and your family a successful year in Shanghai!

Andrew Lancaster, Head of Secondary
