Exciting Things Happening For World Book Week at BISS Puxi

07 April 2016

May 2-6 is World Book Week and we will be celebrating the week-long event here at BISS Puxi with a lot of exciting things to look forward in Secondary.

  • World Book Week

1) The Diorama Competition is back! Following the success of last year’s competition, we are re-launching the annual Diorama competition, open to Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Students are encouraged to see Freya Mackenzie’s winning piece from last year, illustrating ‘Le Cirque des Rêves’ from Erin Morgenstern’s fantasy novel ‘The Night Circus’:

Finished Dioramas will need to be handed in by Friday 6 May and so students will need to start thinking about a scene from their favourite book that they would like to recreate!

2) World Book Day Dress Up – on Friday 6 May: Students are invited to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite novel, poem or play. We had some fantastic costumes last year, and would like to see the same level or variety, creativity and imagination again. We also ask that every student in costume brings 10RMB into school, in order to help raise money for new books for the Qing Pu Xiulong Migrant School.

3) The BISS Puxi Quotation Quiz – on Wednesday 4 May: Selected teachers in Secondary will be ‘wearing’ a quotation said by a famous literary character. We’re asking students if they can find all the quotations across the school, uncover which character said them and what text they are from? Students can take part by collecting an answer sheet from the LRC from Thursday 31 April onwards. The competition is open to all year groups and prizes will be awarded to the top scorers!

It promises to be a fantastic week of fun and learning.
