Science Week a Big Hit With Year 1 Children

27 May 2016

The children have had a fantastic week and enjoyed being scientists! The week quite literally started with a bang and the children were excited to start their learning.

After learning about evolution and Charles Darwin, they made their very own evolved junk model insects then created a Fact File about their amazing creatures using scientific vocabulary such as diet and habitat. They also used Chatterpics to record information about Charles Darwin. They enjoyed visiting the airport and flying to the Galapagos Islands in our role-play area and have discovered many unusual animals.

They became botanists in the Science laboratories and dissected flowers, they were amazed by what they discovered and eagerly took photos of their findings using the Ipads. Another highlight of the week was the Science Zone. Children used their senses to discover what was inside the mystery boxes and were shocked to discover how much sugar is in orange juice.

The children have had a great week and will have lots of exciting facts and experiences to share with you at home.
