Our new students are being well supported by their teachers and student buddies to ensure that they feel happy and secure, and get off to a great start in their new school. Meanwhile, our new parents are also being looked after by our fantastic Parent’ Association who are making sure they too get off to a good start in their new lives here in Shanghai.
Now at the end of our second week, the children are settled into the routines of the school day, familiar with their schedules, and finding their way around the campus (although some of our littlest children will take a bit longer). It is now then, that the serious business of learning can really get going. Our teachers are once again challenged with the important task of creating a dynamic learning environment, that is stimulating, engaging and fuels a thirst for learning in each one of our students. We want each child to be excited to come to school each day. We want to feed their curiosity and ignite passions. We aim to inspire ambition in every child. This means that teachers really need to know the children in their care so that the learning journey for each student can be personalised. From the very start of the year, and on-going throughout the year, teachers will be forging strong relationships with the students and continually assessing their progress. They will be working closely with each child to ensure that they are tailoring teaching and learning to ensure great learning outcomes for all, while also nurturing students to become confident self-motivated learners. Please do help us to get to know your child by sharing with us any concerns or worries that you or they may have – this will allow us to work in partnership to best support your child.
In addition to the stimulating classroom learning that is taking place, we are also delighted to be launching our Term 1 ECA and BISCAP programmes. These after school sessions afford a great opportunity for children to explore lots of different activities beyond the formal curriculum; encompassing sports, music, art, drama, technology, science, languages and much more. Children can explore new hobbies or build on their existing hobbies. These hobbies, in turn, can become passions and pave the way for their future goals, dreams, activities and, in some cases can even lead to exciting careers in the future. We do encourage everyone to take full advantage of great ECAs on offer and to take a risk to try new things.
We are such a busy school with so much learning taking place every day, not just in the classrooms but in so many exciting and engaging ways. Busy, focused, and engaged so that every child can think more, achieve more and be more. With so much going on, please do keep up to date by checking the school website and calendar and ensure that you don’t miss out on any of the great events coming up over the coming weeks.
We look forward to working in partnership with you throughout this school year and making it a highly successful one for every student.
Thanks for your continued support.
