Music Melodies

09 February 2017

Our Primary students have all come back from their Chinese new year holidays full of energy and keen to continue with the topics they commenced before the holidays.

  • Music Performance

Reception are continuing to discover the Juilliard toolbox which now has some great resources designed precisely for this age group.

In Year 1 students are continuing with the Juilliard resource “ Beethoven’s famous four note’s”. They have used them as a basis for improvisations and also to test their familiarity with Beethoven’s opening motif.

Year 2 students have been learning to recognise and respond to some simple musical Italian term using the Juilliard core work that examines Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

Our trumpeting Year 3 students have been working hard to improve their tone as they produced their first sounds.

The Year 4 students have been continuing their Chinese music focus with an investigation of the pentatonic scale and its use in both composed and improvised music.

Year 5 students have been building up a high quality sound bank as they learn to record and edit their own samples.

In Year 6 almost all students have managed to produce first their sounds and have moved on to learning to finger and play the note “B”.
