Week Beginning 18 May 2015

Thank you for all those parents who assisted us on our Educational Visit – We had a wonderful day and the children were so excited!! What a great memory to have from their Nursery year. The EYFS Bake Sale in aid of victims of Nepal will be held on Tuesday 19 May. Please donate some cakes and biscuits. Children can make a purchase for 10 RMB.

Learning Theme – Under the sea

This week we will continue with our Under the Sea learning theme. The children will be recording what they have learned through illustrations and ‘writing’.  Is there one animal that you would like to learn about? What is your favourite animal from under the sea? Is there anything else that you would like to know about an animal under the sea? Did you learn something about this animal at the Aquarium?  How can we find the information to learn more about this animal?

Key Vocabulary: Fish, creatures, aquarium, sea life, underwater.

Expressive Arts and Design

The children will continue to make observational drawings and sculptures of a variety of animals found under the sea. Using a range of materials we will create 3 dimensional and 2 dimensional representations of sea creatures. We will discuss why animals are particular shapes and colours. How will these features help the animals to keep safe? Can you create your own sea creature? 

Key Vocabulary:  Features, shapes, drawing, observational drawings.


The animals under the sea are all different shapes and sizes. We will be measuring them in different ways and creating patterns using animals. We will sequence pictures from our trip to the aquarium.

Vocabulary: pattern, shapes, tall, short, long, more and less, first, last, then and next.  


We are going to keep talking about  Under the Sea . We will do some activities related to the theme.

We hebben het boek ‘Balotje bij de dokter’ van Yvonne Jagtenberg gelezen. De kinderen hebben ook gespeeld in de wachtkamer en de spreekkamer van de dokter. In dit rollenspel hebben de kinderen leren vragen stellen en ook het verhaal in een duidelijke volgorde leren spelen. Natuurlijk hebben we ook nog het liedje ‘ziek’ gezongen.
