LEARNING THEME: AFRICA
As we delve into international week, the Nursery children will be exploring the continent of Africa. The children will get to experience African music, art, dance and much more. Early next week, one of the secondary school music teachers will be joining us to perform a mini African music concert for all the children. On Wednesday we will be graced with a visitor from Ghana who is coming in to talk to the children about Africa and African culture.
MATHS and LANGUAGE
This week our Mathematical focus will be on preposistional language. This leads in greatly to our language development as we acquire new and important vocabulary. We will be looking closely at the posision of items using words such as, over, under, beside, inside and outside to describe there they are. Children will be encouraged to use this new language throughout the day as well as working on activites to follow simple posisional language instructions. For example ‘’Put the book on the table, under the table, beside the table’’
Key Vocabulary:. Where? There, here, over, under, beside, inside and outside
EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN
As we explore the great culture of Africa, the children will be encouraged to join in with the music, dancing and arts of Africa. They will be encouraged to design their own african paintings, perform using african musical instruments and even try some african dancing. The children will be encouraged to draw upon last weeks knowledge of patterns as their create their african music.
