  • Now that spring has sprung we are experiencing lots of rainy weather.  If rain is expected please remember to send rain boots and a waterproof jacket with your child.  This will help them stay dry as they jump in puddles and thoroughly explore the outdoor environment.
  • We are running short of spare socks for the children in the Pre Nursery area- if you have any spare or unwanted socks can you please send them into school. They would be very much appreciated.
  • Term 3 Second Hand Uniform Sale  3.00pm – 4.30pm on Monday 25 April in the Gallery.

This week we will continue our focus on spring and planting by reading the classic fairy tale “Jack and the Beanstalk.”  Through books and a short video, the children will learn about how Jack’s adventure started by trading his cow for some magic beans.  After Jack climbed the gigantic beanstalk he discovered a fierce giant with many great treasures.  But will Jack manage to get away from this ferocious creature?  We will have to read and find out!

Key Vocabulary: beans, cow, magic, beanstalk, harp, goose, egg, treasure, gold, escape

Reading “Jack and the Beanstalk” gives us the perfect opportunity to practise our counting.  How many beans does Jack have?  Do you have more or fewer beans?  When we make our own beanstalks we will talk about who has the most leaves, and who has the least.  The children will be encouraged to count many interesting things they find i the classroom this week.  There will be groups of seeds, black beans, growing plants, and even some sparkly eggs from the Golden Goose!  We look forward to an exciting week counting and comparing together.

Key Vocabulary:  count, more, fewer, how many, bigger, smaller, biggest, smallest
