This week in Literacy we will be building on our vocabulary work last week, which described a setting. They will be using their skills to write a description of a setting, thinking about the place, time and atmosphere of the environment from three different viewpoints: wide angle, the mid range and close up.

The children in Maths will be learning to measure the perimeter of simple 2D shapes, the total distance around the outside of a shape. This will build on their measuring skills from last week. They will then be extended to use addition and multiplication calculations to record their findings.

In Themed Learning the focus will be using photography from their sightseeing trip on Tuesday to create photographic representations of landscpaes in Shanghai. These will be  in the style of David Hockney’s “joiners”. The children will use a photograph from our trip and cut it into strips to create a montage of the whole image. They will then develop their collaging skills further by creating a montage of different far and close up shots of a single landscape, which wil be layered, to create a single image.

The children will be focusing on what they do to make themselves proud as learners.

Literacy –setting, place, environment, atmosphere, vocabulary, thesaurus, synonym, antonym, description
