In Literacy this week, children will be combining their previous week’s learning of balanced arguments and the associated grammar with the International Week celebrations. During this week, as Year 4 will be focusing on Antarctica and the wonders that this continent encompasses, children will be writing ‘Should tourists visit Antarctica?’ Consequently, they will learn about the flora, fauna, climate and landscapes of this place, while further embedding their knowledge of causal and contrasting connectives, improving their ability to generate arguments for and against.
This coming week we will be working with shape and space. The children will learn to classify 2D shapes according to their properties, in particular parallel lines and angles. They will learn the names of common angles and begin to relate angles to measurement in degrees. The children will be encouraged to explain their reasoning regarding shapes and develop mathematical vocabulary.
International week has arrived! The students of Year 4 have been given the responsibility of investigating the continent of Antarctica. This will mean that for their learning they will conduct experiments considering icebergs and the salinity of water when floating. They will also research landscape and wildlife of the southern tundra to create dioramas.
Students will continue to create computer coding to create games.

De Razende Reporters van SDS zijn ontzettend druk met het verzamelen van het laatste nieuws. Daarbij staan belangrijke zaken als nieuwswaarde en het schrijven van een spannende, pakkende en uitdagende kop centraal.
De leerlingen van Y3 t/m Y6 leren schrijven aan de hand van een schrijfplan. Het plannen van het schrijven van een tekst is een zeer belangrijke vaardigheid en belangrijk voor het ontwikkelen van de schrijfvaardigheid.
Bi(e)bbezoek en Estafette
Denk aan het meenemen van de bi(e)bboeken op maandag (Year 3, 5 en 6) en dinsdag (Year 4). Estafette doen we op maandag (Year 3, 5 en 6) en donderdag (Year 4).

Year 3/ 4 French: Miss Wood
This week we shall be starting a new unit based around holidays. The children will learn to say where they are going on holiday, express their holiday plans and ask questions regarding different places. They will use known phrases and consolidate them by extending their vocabulary base.
Homework: to complete the sheet on directions and places.
