MESSAGES

  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Please can you save any cardboard boxes, plastic tube etc for the KS2 Production, and send them in with your child. After the holidays we will begin making our props.

LITERACY

This week, we will continue to use information texts whilst looking at the Greeks. We will look at the different features used, and how the vocabulary helps to explain the information. This week, we will focus on pictures and captions, and how they help the explanation of information. Additionally, we will make use of dictionaries to further our independent learning skills.

MATHS

Next week the children will be focusing on fractions. Following from their previous work on equivalent fractions, they will begin to look at fractions in greater depth through problem solving and mastery based activities. They will explore adding and subtracting fractions with a common denominator as well as finding fractions of quantities. It would be helpful if the children continue to practise their times tables at home to improve their accuracy and speed during mental maths tests.

THEMED LEARNING

Next week we will be looking at the Ancient Greek Olympics. We’ll be learning about how they started, which events took place and who competed in them, and we’ll be trying out a few of the events ourselves!

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

We will focus on using search technologies effectively to inform our understanding of topics. The children will search for information and develop methods to narrow their search.

PSHCE

This term our new PSHCE / well-being program will begin.  The first core value covered is collaboration.  This is the ability to work constructively with others, and children will learn to negotiate, to resolve conflicts, and to support agreed solutions. In doing so, they will strengthen their sense of teamwork and realize where they lack certain skills; which they can later hone.

DUTCH

Deze week staat natuurlijk in het teken van de citotoetsen!

Verder gaan we dieper in op poëzie en dichtkunst. We gaan verder  met “Raadgedichten”. Daarbij lezen we elke dag/week een nieuw gedicht, waarvan 1 woord ontbreekt. Samen filosoferen we over het woord dat mist.

We maken in Year 3-4 een start met dansen op gedichten. Bij year 5-6 gaan we beginnen met het schrijven van eigen gedichten aan de hand van volksverhalen.

Voor spelling oefenen we deze week nog even extra op de categorieën die aan bod komen tijdens de citotoetsen!
