Rachel Wynne
BEd Primary Education
Rachel has been a classroom teacher for ten years, since qualifying from the University of Gloucestershire with a BEd Degree in Primary Education. She started teaching in a multi-cultural area of Birmingham, where she taught Year 1. After a time teaching in Uganda, she moved to Bristol to teach a Nursery and then, a Pre-Nursery class. The Early Years settings in which she taught in were one Bristol's outstanding schools.
Nursery Teacher
Freely Foster is a qualified teacher in both China and the UK. She graduated from South China Normal University in 2005 with the equivalent of a first class degree in English Education for Primary and Secondary Schools. Freely taught at a prestigious Chinese boarding school in Guangdong province for two years, before relocating to the UK in 2007. She gained her British teaching qualification at Canterbury University, Kent in 2009, through the UK government's Overseas Trained Teachers Programme. Before moving back to Shanghai, she spent four years teaching in London and the South East of England.
Sau Wan graduated from Birmingham City University with degrees in Early Years and Early Childhood Education. She has experience working with children of all ages across the Early Years Foundation Stage and has taught in well resourced and diverse nursery schools in the UK. Sau Wan has also had the opportunity to work alongside multiple agencies in Sure Start children’s centres, supporting, educating and leading play with young children and families in the community. She has taught internationally for a number of years, and prior to moving to BISS Puxi, Sau Wan taught Nursery and Reception classes at our sister school in Beijing, Sanlitun.
Francesca Wai
BA (Hons)
After studying for four years at Leeds Beckett University, Francesca graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Primary Education, fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. Having spent three years teaching in Years 4 and 5, and becoming a PSHE Co-Ordinator, Francesca decided to pursue her ambition of teaching internationally. In 2018, Francesca made the move to Shanghai, where she taught a wonderful class of Reception aged children, in an international pre-school. Here, she developed a passion for working with much younger children and furthered her understanding of the importance of the EYFS.
Kelly Glover
BA, PGCE(i)
Having completed a BA (English) with majors in Psychology and Linguistics, Kelly was originally interested in pursuing a career in research. After voluntary work at BISS Puxi in 2016, however, Kelly fell in love with the idea of teaching. Deciding to make Shanghai her permanent home the same year, she has since worked at the school gaining invaluable experience across EYFS and KS2. Having originally worked as a 1:1 learning support teacher focusing on social and behavioural development, Kelly later focused on academic interventions with children. Being a person who loves change, though, Kelly decided that after two and a half years she was ready for a fresh start: she completed her Postgraduate Certificate in International Education through the University of Nottingham, and transferred to class teacher.
Elena graduated in 2010 as an Early Years teacher from the Ion Creanga Pedagogic University in Moldova, specialising in psychology and special educational needs. Over the next four years Elena then worked as both a nursery and pre-nursery teacher in her home country of Moldova.
Reception Teacher
Before venturing to BISS Puxi in the summer of 2019, Ryan had spent the previous ten years in England working predominantly in the Early Years sector across a number of different primary schools, two local authorities, NHS, Sure Start and private childcare providers. In 2019 he decided to challenge himself to apply his experiences and expertise to entirely new cultures and ways of life.
