Whilst studying performing arts in Sheffield, Maddison volunteered to work with young children, delivering drama-based workshops in schools. After graduating, she completed her PGCE at Birmingham University and went on to teach in Key Stage 2, in inner city Birmingham, where she was also Curriculum Leader and responsible for staff training and creating exciting topics. Maddison then taught in Reception at the British School of Beijing, taking part in the Nord Anglia ‘Change Project’ and helping to create a muddy kitchen and green area for the children in EYFS. Maddison then moved to Bangkok in 2017, again teaching in Reception and also as the Phonics Leader. Finally, for the last 2 years, she worked for educational publishers Twinkl, creating blogs and content for parents.
Maddison is a passionate Early Years practitioner who loves to follow children’s interests. After teaching predominantly in Key Stage 2, she was given the opportunity to teach in reception and since that day, she has never looked back. Early Years is a very special place, it’s a hive of activity, excitement and exploration. Being at the very start of these young learner’s journeys is a real gift. Maddison loves being creative, with the children, whether that’s colour mixing, building, role play or singing - it’s such a wonderful job and she loves nothing more than observing the children as they play together, listening to their conversations and watching their skills develop over the year - it is simply magical!
In her free time, Maddison loves to explore new places - she enjoys travel and has been to some incredible places such as Myanmar, Peru and Cambodia. She is also passionate about food and loves to cook; taking inspiration from the places she visits. Maddison also really loves photography and capturing those special moments.
