Yasmin came to China to teach with the British Council and has remained in Shanghai for the past nineteen years. Whilst living in China, she has worked at many schools with differing educational systems which has enriched her ongoing teaching and learning. Most notably, Yasmin’s achievements are in inquiry-based learning, using Art. Followed by early reading intervention with an emphasis on phonics and phonemic awareness with support for English as an Additional Language.
Yasmin is a passionate environmentalist and will often be seen reusing and recycling many items in school and her classroom. She is also an avid and active participant for animal rights and protection for stray cats and dogs, often raising money to support shelters across Shanghai. Her hobbies are reading, spending time with her family and four cats, travelling, which opens her mind to new possibilities, whenever they may happen. Yasmin hopes one day to continue with her charity work and run a library on wheels to bring reading to poorer communities around the world.
